United States and Cameroon
The Shemka Foundation was founded on December 18, 2000, by the children of Simon Shemka Shang and Olive Bongfen Shang, to carry on a life of community development. Today the work is held by two organizations: a United States nonprofit, and a Cameroon foundation whose clinic is the Quality Healthcare Unit.

The Foundation
In Cameroon the foundation works on community resilience and sustainable development. In the United States it builds the partnerships, funding, and people that make that work possible.
The community clinic
Quality Healthcare Unit
QHU is the community clinic at Nkolbison, on the outskirts of Yaoundé. It provides affordable, high-quality care and carries out the clinical side of the foundation’s mission.
From the United States
The U.S. organization is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and a California-registered charitable organization. Its board concentrates on strategic partnerships, fundraising, and making room for volunteers and researchers to work with the foundation in Cameroon.
